Rapid economic and industrial growth and increasing population and urbanization have been causing severe environmental degradation and pollution problems the world over including India. We are facing an unprecedented ecological challenge to develop a sustainable world economy.
However, awareness on the environmental concerns has been increasing in India. Industry is making efforts to adjust to new requirements and also to acquire eco-friendly technologies. It is realizing that economic development and sound environmental management are complimentary aspects of the same agenda.
With the concepts of sustainable production and consumption catching on rapidly, corporate sector is increasingly incorporating the element of environment preservation in its day-to-day business operations. Industrial houses are clear in their perception that, along with quality, environmental safety is an important factor in making a business successful.
