The overall purpose of the Economic Affairs Committee is to create a general awareness as also gauge the perceptions of members on the current economic scenario facing the country. This would be achieved by undertaking an in depth analysis from time to time - through desk work, and surveys and also by organizing seminars -on major areas of concern which will enable us to make an objective assessment of the economy and industry. These concerns would then be conveyed to the government, print media and brought out as studies for further dissemination.

Composition of the Committee

The membership of Economic Affairs Committee constitutes of the following:

1. Representatives from trade and industry

2. Experts and retired government officials

3. Consultants, Economists and members of academic institutions

4. Industry associations

5. Special Invitees

Some of major activities initiated in the committee are as under:

1.Review the economic situation from time to time

2. To organise meetings and discussion sessions with experts/policy makers

3. To present suitable memoranda to the government as and when required

4. To conduct surveys to gauge the expectations of the members on important economic issues.
